Encants Market

2008

Barcelona

The project takes advantage of the natural level difference between the streets to create two distinct levels. The first level generates a large square that preserves the distinctive identity of the former market, while the second extends the pavements of the neighbouring streets, giving them greater width and allowing the square to be viewed as a whole.

Finally, a roof is introduced as an iconic element, giving character and uniqueness to the building.
