The proposal sets out the extension of the building through a large structure inspired by the structural logic of an IPE steel profile, reinterpreted at the scale of a long-span system. The trusses work as the flanges of the beam, while the vertical elements connecting them act as the structural web.

This system makes it possible to create a new open floor between the trusses, resolved with a CLT floor slab, accommodating the new fitness room programme. The resulting space provides approximately 1,100 m² of usable area and incorporates two lateral strips conceived as flexible areas, with the potential to function as outdoor spaces for guided activities, a solarium, or complementary uses.

The intervention is not limited to solving a one-off extension, but instead establishes a structure capable of accommodating future growth. The “Mega IPE” would allow the second floor to be extended in a later phase through the incorporation of a new floor slab supported on the lower trusses.

On the façade, the upward extension maintains a sense of continuity with the original building through a Brutalist language, based on the presence of concrete, a linear rhythm, and the incorporation of large openings that bring natural light into the new floor.
